How cute are these?
Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 12:00AM How cute are these?
I found the teracotta pots at an estate sale and spray painted them with chalk board paint.
Last summer, the goal for our family was to eat only locally produced dairy, produce, meat and bread for the entire summer! We accomplished it by by going to farmer's markets, participating in Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), and homegrown fun! We had some great field trips to a local lavender field, Miami County Farm Tour, Lawrence Farm Tour, Original Juan's hot sauce, Shatto dairy farm and The Roasterie!!! Check out the blog if you want to know about "All Things Kansas City". We have toured a lot of places and have learned a lot.

Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 6:32AM Have you heard about Kansas City's Passport to Adventure? I don't know if you know this, but I am an Elementary School teacher and we have been studying about the community the kids live in,Lenexa. The Lenexa Historical Society came to our school and did a bang up job on their presentation. They brought a covered wagon to our school, for goodness sakes! I learned about the "Passport" in one of their presentations. (It really is a clever way to get the kids excited to learn about Kansas and Missouri.)
There are 26 places to visit and questions to answer about each stop. If you visit and get at stamp from 16 of the 26 stops, your child receives a special prize packet. I have no idea what the prize packet entails, but WE WILL BE GETTING ONE. Some of the places to visit and learn about include:
1855 Harris- Kearney House in Westport, John Wornall House, kansas City Museum,Lakeside Nature Center, Legler Barn, Oxford School House,Powell Gardens, Wonderscope, and Alexander Majors House.
Can't wait to have some free time and explore!
Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 3:13PM WOW is all that I can say about Fire Lake Camp. It is so relaxing and beautiful.
We spent the day picking asparagus, skipping rocks on the lake, listening to live bluegrass and soaking in the sun.
The owners have lived there for a year and a half.
The 1/2 acre of aspargus was there, but they have added everything else.

They have planted hundreds of lavender plants, an herb garden, and have 3 bee hives. They have "farm dinners" available for $50 per person. I don't think our turkey friend is on the menu, don't worry. (They do have organic chicken eggs, though).
You sit outside on a long farm table, by the lake and enjoy the serenity.
Friday, May 11, 2012 at 12:00AM We planted strawberries last summer, they are a perennial. Last spring, there were a few berries to pick. This year, the pickin' is much better.
We plan to eat them with some shortbread and whip cream.
Speaking of strawberry shortcake, this is my Strawberry Shortcake doll collection from the 80's. The dolls still live in my childhood closet at my parent's house. THEY rock!!
It seems as though Strawberry Shortcake could use a little help with her hair and Purple Pie Man's handlebar moustache is a bit askew, yes? Which one is your favorite and can you name them all?!?!
Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 12:00AM The first weekend of each month, the West Bottoms is open up to the public. The warehouses are filled with just about anything you could think of. I love the thrill of the chase. If you don't know me well, I have a glass fetish. For whatever reason, I can not get enough. You bet your sweet bottom dollar that I was giddy when I found this matching set (not so sure my hubby was too giddy, we're running out of room). Six of each have a new home. I ran across these at Bella Patina.
I also scored this funky necklace at Good JuJu ( I always seem to have good luck finding treasures there).
Here's what I envision with this necklace. Khaki capris, navy and off-white shirt, wedges and THE NECKLACE! Yes please!
